The highest possible fine is now imposed on Facebook, that is involved in this data protection scandal, by the British data protection authority. The giant may before the final decision react to the accusation.
The reason given for the imposition of GBP 500,000 fine by British Government Commissioner for Information Elizabeth Dunham was that the social site failed to protect the users’ data and thereby infringed the data protection regulations.
The company’s data protection director earlier stated that the incident had not involved personal data of European users, while the European Commission declared that the illegal data gathering may have affected 2.7 million European users.
