According to the digital transition roadmap of the NAV, the operation of Hungary’s tax return system will undergo fundamental changes in the coming years. One of the most significant developments is that the ÁNYK, which has served taxpayers for nearly two decades, will be discontinued after 31 December 2026. This transition is not merely a technical update; it requires a substantial reconsideration of companies’ compliance processes, making early preparation particularly important.

Based on PS’ experience, data reconciliation procedures in practice are not risk-increasing “anterooms” to a tax audit, but rather highly effective risk-reduction tools. In the course of cooperation with the Tax Authority a significant proportion of cases reveal discrepancies-often of a technical nature-that, when corrected in a timely manner, prevent a subsequent audit that could already involve sanctions.
